I am getting many questions like this – “Can I get hacked just by clicking a link or opening a website?”
and my answer to them is “YES”
Microsoft has just launched some new patches in early of this month April 2018. These patches have security updates which look after some critical vulnerabilities in its Windows OS and other products. Five of the vulnerabilities is allowing attackers to hack your computer by just clicking a site.
The recent vulnerabilities are in Windows Graphics Component that resides due to improper handling of embedded fonts by the Windows font library and affects all versions of Windows operating systems to date, including Windows 10 / 8.1 / RT 8.1 / 7, Windows Server 2008 / 2012 / 2016.
The hacker can use these issues by some trick and force the user to open a malicious file or a website in a browser and this would hand over full control of your personal computer to the attacker.
All these 5 vulnerabilities of Windows Microsoft Graphics were discovered and disclosed by Hossein Lotfi, a security researcher at Flexera Software.
I am strongly recommending all users to apply the latest security patches as soon as possible to keep hackers away from taking control of your system.
For installing the security patches of Windows you need to go to Settings -> Update & security -> Windows Update -> Check for updates
