Gmail’s New Feature Coming Soon: Sending Confidential Emails That Automatically Expire
|Gmail recently testing sending confidential emails which have the ability to self expiration. TechCrunch gives the report that the email services have to be compatible with email providers and email clients. But it doesn’t seem to stop Google, as the company is now going beyond the POP3/IMAP/SMTP protocols.
Now, TechCrunch has reported on a new feature in the new Gmail: the ability to send confidential emails that expire. The publication’s report notes that email services have to be compatible with multiple email providers and email clients. However, that doesn’t seem to stop Google, as the company is now going beyond the POP3/IMAP/SMTP protocols.
The expiring feature is similer like ProtonMail as the email becomes unreadable after a certain time. To make the email confidential the users are getting a small lock icon named “Confidential Mode” in compose window of gmail, by pressing which states that the email received won’t be able to copy, paste, download, print or forward that mail.
The most important section of this gmail feature is the sender can set the expiration time to their emails for 1 week, 1 month or multiple years. Also they can ask the recipient to confirm their identity be sending a passcode via text message. Isn’t it awesome!?
The feature is probably in test mode as the source arrived at a non-existent page after clicking on the “Learn More” option to open Google’s Help articles. Also it is unknown to us weather it will be compatible with no-gmail users also as Google is currently verifying user’s account to view this confidential email.
Google stated that their new Gmail design is going to release in a few weeks and this confidential email feature may be launched along with this also. But Google hasn’t confirmed it in details.
