It’s never easy to face the prospect of having to go about a server upgrade for business as these are the sweeping changes that never fail to bring along hefty price tags. Nevertheless, it’s often a case of ‘do or die’ for the business as a whole so expensive or not, upgrades are a necessary evil.
However, it’s perfectly possible to make the whole process far less of a pain in the proverbial by being as proactive as possible and knowing when and where to draw the line. Letting things spiral out of control before caving never yields positive results, so in the spirit of warding off problems, here’s a look at three signs you might want to go about an upgrade sooner rather than later:
You’re Spending More Time Fixing than Working
Every minute you spend hammering away at your systems trying to keep them working is a minute wasted that could have been put to better use. If this is something that is happening on a regular basis, you are literally throwing money down the drain already – money that could be spent on a shiny-new server that will make your life so much easier! And the earlier you act, the higher the chances of saving a buck or two by not having to drag the company out of an unmitigated disaster!
Slowdowns Are Impacting Productivity
There also comes a time when you must accept that waiting minute after minute for the system to catch up with itself is doing nothing for your productivity. Again, it’s a case of dealing with a problem that’s currently equating to money down the drain in the form of lost time and resources that could have been better invested. If you’re going to spend money, spend it on something that counts!
Support Becomes Tiresome
And finally, if you’re finding yourself having to fight tooth and nail to get any kind of help out of your network support service, you really should be looking elsewhere. There’s no point paying for a service package when you yourself end up having to do most of their job for them as they’re never available or as much use as a chocolate fireguard.
